What do you like to collect?
I collect stuffed animals, but that's under another post.
I like to collect the older Tonka trucks, Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.
I also collect glass figurines of various animals like cats, bears, rabbits, dinosaurs, and more.
I have a whole collection of dinosaur models, books, stuffed ones.
I also collect porcelain dolls.
I like to find and collect old antique toys of any kind, but those antique dealers almost seem to always outbid me at an auction.
My mom collects buttons, like the kind you sew on clothes, marbles, pig figurines, rooster figurines, and seashells of all types and sizes--including a half of an ocean clam shell that weighs around lb70 and is about ft4 across.
Oh, she likes rocks too, polished stones and river rocks.
I don't collect anything, but I have a friend who collects anything with dolphins.
I collect cigarette lighters, mostly from the dollar stores though I've got a few slightly more expensive ones. I've got everything from a key ring, to a watch, to a Greek collumn, to ones with naked and clothed women, to guns, to a book, to binoculars, to cell phones, to pipes, to an owl to one with a pot leaf on it. I've even got one in the shape of a penis. I also collect computers, from my Apple IIC, to my Apple IIGS, to my MS-Dos machines, to a few running different varieties of Windows (including the one I'm converting to Enhanced DR-Dos) to my Macbook running Leopard. I've got alot of vinyl but mostly cause I love records, not cause I collect them in the monitary sense, though I've got a few of those too. I also collect coins, mostly Greek, though I've got a few foreign ones too. My parents collect American coins, from a 1903 steel penny, to the WWI coins, to the buffalo quarters, to the Susan B Anthony dollars, to the state quarters and probably some I don't even know. Grandma's got some European money, an American silver dollar and some two dollar bills. Mom's got the original Campbel's soup bowls, some MacDonald's cups, some old Pepsi cups, and an unopened bottle of coke from the 50's that she gave to me. Joanie's got a whole collection of beany babies, puzzles and a decently-sized stamp collection from her mother which goes all the way back to the original Titanic one from 1912. She might have one slightly older than that, not sure.
So I guess you could say my whole family's full of collectors. I'm not sure if my brother or his wife collects stuff but their little baby collects balls in just about every colour and size. He's so cute.
People collect anything. I also collect coins from around the world, the new Euro, old coins, the state quarter collection, but I never got into the presidential dollars.
I collect squish animals. These things are full of beens, but they escape being beanbags because there's air in them that makes the beans puff out like clouds. The material is shiny and slightly stretchy. does anybody know a propper name for these?
I also collect woodland creatures. Rabbits, mice, you name it, I collect it.
Faeries, frogs, anything engraved with the letter U, fans, knives, and tea pots.
I'm an avid baby doll collector. I love the dolls from collectablestoday.com because they're so heavy and life-like. I also make dolls. They're about ten inches high, floppy and squeezable.

I love collecting pencils!
Baseball cards.
And music.
My mother collects coins.
I'm trying to cutback my collecting ways. *lol*
My largest and longest running collection is musical water globes and music boxes. I love these things! I daydream of collecting enough and opening a shop on the coast. lol!
We have far too many stuff animals. That could be a collection.
hahaha you can never have too many stuffed animals imho.
Well I collect keychains. When going around they are so so easy to find so I have a lot of the different keychains. I also collect musicboxes. I only have like two sets that play the same song. I want them different. Those are my main collections. I have thimbles from when I was sighted but I have a great daughter that will get those. Smiles
I love to colect coins of any kind and I love to colect musical instruments.
I've got a load of animal ornaments, all of which are animals and most of those horses. I also used to collect paper clips and treasury tags off the top of worksheets when I was at school.
I'm a collector of vinyl records, and have been since christmas of 1994, and since I got a stand-alone cd burner and also total recorder on my system, they're being preserved forever!
I'm a collecter of DVDs, laptops, mobile/cel phones, lol JK, though I have upgraded these two afore-mentioned items more times than I care to blimming remember, I collect all manner of music boxes from the kiddies Fisher Price pocket radios wood and plastic, a couple of which I owned when I was little, to the musical ferris wheel, little people range, to the record player and music box giant screen TVs and teaching clock, then some more grown up music boxes like the ones with the dancing magnetic figures and animals on top. I have one with two frogs on a pond and another king and queen in front of their castle which are both magnetic, then I have this Winnie The Pooh and Piglet on a seasaw in the 100-acre wood with two pots of honey and things on the ground near them as they move up and down to the tune of Ain't Got A Barrel Of Money, I have a couple of tiny crank music boxes where you turn the crank. One plays The Entertainer and you can actually see the movement through this little window if you lift the card flap, another I used to have, you turn the crank and it plays my Grandfather's Clock, that was just like a little matchbox with a music box movement inside, I have a Christmas nativity scene with Father Christmas, a smaller child figure opening presents, a train, bricks, a car and stuff, all stuck on top of a 6-pointed star and the Christmas tree towers above everything else and revolves when the crank is turned, to Silent Night. Lastly but not leastly in this expandable collection, I have my Harry Potter water/snow globe which plays The Sorting Hat/feast theme from the Philosopher's Stone when wound. This particular collection is small, but it's growing in size all the time if I have my way with it, lol. I'm also starting to collect clocks. I have a Howard Miller Burton, but that needs new hands because the shaft of the old minute hand split, bloody thing, and I have a very very old 1920s Wendy House design clock which was given to my Great Grandparents as a wedding present and is currently, also in need of repair since the chime's stuck, on top of our sideboard, lol. I collect beanies and other stuffed animals, though I didn't manage to collect many beanies before they just kind of stopped being produced for some reason, lol, but I have enough to be going on with, about 12 or 13 in all, lol.

Wow, all those music boxes sound so nice! My cousin used to have a small collection, but I doubt she has most of them now. Is that record player you mentioned the Fisher Price victrola with the three little records that play nursery rhymes? I had that when I was little, and it fascinated me how although on there own they just seemed to be plain, identical pieces of plastic, when you put them on the machine they each played different songs.
As for me, I have a small collection of muppets and fraggles, a fair-sized collection of assorted foreign coins, and I recently decided to start collecting dolphins from tropical places I visit. Since money is tight and I don't travel that much, I've only got 2 so far. One is from Jamaica, and one is from Cocoa Beach.
My biggest collection is turtles! Stuffed turtles, glass turtles, turtle jewelry, you name it, I probably have it. I used to collect lighthouses and seashells when I was younger, but I haven't bought any in quite some time.
I collect a few things, and have a few things I dream of collecting.
I collect bladed weapons of all sorts and shapes, except axes because when I started the collection, my mom wouldn't let me have axes. She said they looked too vicious for her taste. She used to help me pick out swords though. Kind of odd. I have several swords, I'd like to get an officer's sword from all five branches of the military, and one from every war before 1900. I have several movie swords, from harry potter, to highlander, to braveheart, to pirate's of the caribean. Plus some ceremonial daggers, and a bayonet from every country who faught in WWII. Including one taken off a dead nazi solider and passed down in my family.
I have a very small collection of guns. I have a 12 guage pump action shotgun, and a walker colt revolver. that will be getting larger in the near future.
I collect medals I've won, but I won't list those for fear of sounding conceited.
My dream is to collect fountains, because i love the sound they make, wind chimes, for the same reason, and grandfather and grandmother clocks. My grandmother has several of them, and when I stayed with her, the sound of their chiming always amazed me, so I want to collect them in the future.
Yep, that record player is indeed the Fisher Price one. There should be 5 records unless you've lost two of them Kathy, lol. I'm thinking I'll also get a new needle for mine since some of the notes are a bit laggy and sloppy when it plays, making it play slower than it would normally when fully wound. It's dated 1971.
Jen.
silver lightning, blades, share, please! i'd love to have a collection of blades, what do you do with them, where do you keep them?
as for me i started a crystal collection. it's small, like 18 crystals, some duplicits, but all different in their own way!
but that's about it.
It depends what kind of blade it is. some I display, some I use, some I carry.
the ones I display I keep in display cases or display stands or on plaques. The ones I use are kept either in a velvet lined box, or in a sheath on my dresser. the ones I carry are kept in their sheath.
wow... i'd love to have a blade collection... that's really cool... i'd even like to just have one, blade... like a real sword...
silver, what do you use your blades for? defense, fighting, sport, what? and how do you take care of them. do you need to do anything to clean them, all of them and how can you carry one, don't you need a licence for one, just like you would a gun?
Jen, are we talking about the same thing? Mine was very tiny, and I don't remember it having a removeable kneedle. Actually, I don't remember much about what it looked like. The records were hard plastic, not the vinal that most real records are made of, and about the size of silver dollar pancakes. The 2 songs I remember were Three Blind Mice and Pop Goes the Weasle, and the sound they made when playing was the tone of a music box.
To the person who was talking about clocks, I've never heard of a grandmother clock. What does one look like? I do love the chime of clocks, and would love to have a working antique one some day, whether grandfather or mantle.
I have two feather boas and am hoping to get a collection going, want more swords(ones that can actually cut flesh)and more gothic jewlery(if that's what you call it)
I collect turtles. I have stuffed animals, little nick nacks, key chains you name it. I've always liked turtles.
I have a collection of polished rocks and a collection of other rocks and sea glass, both of which I started when I was a small child. I also collect dolphins and other figurines. I have a small collection of keychains as well, most of which are souvenirs.
I've collected cow stuff since I was about 12. I've backed off on it quite a bit though and recently thinned down the herd. The problem with collecting stuff like that is once everyone knows you collect, it's all people give as gifts. It can get overwhelming in a hurry. Now I basically keep the cows confined to kitchen decor and items that are useful. I've been collecting keychains as long as I can remember as well. It's a fun way to keep track of where I've been. I also like skulls and nautical themed stuff. I used to collect shot glasses but they're a pain to dust and I can't see them anymore so since they all feel basically the same, they don't do much for me anymore.
